“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you took me in” - Matthew 25:35
First Alliance seeks to be a Church that is outward focused and empowered by God’s Word and Spirit to bless our community, nation and world. It is important that we carefully steward the opportunities and resources with which we are blessed in Canada as we respond to the unparalleled movement of people in the world and the resulting human impact. We choose to stand with the vulnerable and welcome newcomers as God’s word directs us: Isaiah 1:17; Isaiah 58:6-7; Matthew 25:31-46
The Process
The Alliance in Canada has a Sponsorship Agreement with the Canadian Government which allows local churches, like First Alliance Church (FAC), to sponsor refugees as a Constituency Group (CGs).
FAC’s resettlement ministry is led by our Refugee Committee which assesses referrals, prepares applications, raises funds, trains volunteers, and coordinates resettlement plans. The Refugee Committee works with partner churches and community organizations to carry out this ministry.
